- As of 4 pm, total amount of bypass sewage at the Sayreville
Pumping Station was estimated at 335 million gallons
- The average hourly bypass sewage rate varies from 2.7
to 5.7 million gals/hr; weather is still a major factor
in that the volume of sewage and run-off from precipitation
is still high
- The site has been excavated and the pipe is now visible;
the sheeting is being put in place to shore-up the soft
ground and to allow excavation to continue; placement
of the sheeting is taking longer because of weather conditions;
contractor has estimated that it will take 24 hours to
complete the excavation and pumping out the remainder
of the sewage from the pipe
- By Friday (March 7) afternoon, MCUA should be able
to establish the timeline for construction and repair
of the line; a best and worst case scenario will be made
available
- Weather is still a factor in the repair process; snow,
sleet and rain delay the process but does not stop it;
the weekend weather report calls for more rain which will
continue the high volume of water coming to the pump station
-
Work is continuing on a 24-hour basis
