Wastewater Division
Oxygen Generating Facility
In a public/private partnership with Praxair, Inc., the Authority constructed a state-of-the-art oxygen production and supply facility in Sayreville, which will be powered by the recycled energy from the Landfill Gas-to-Energy project. Oxygen is a major component in the wastewater treatment process. The element was previously supplied by an on-site cryogenic plant, however the new facility will provide greater efficiency and improved safety standards to the Wastewater Treatment Facility's operation. Preliminary estimates indicate that the Authority will capture a 20% reduction in oxygen and energy expenditures, which will accumulate into cost savings of several hundred thousand dollars annually.
