Solid Waste Disposal Fee
The Solid Waste Disposal Fee - referred to as a "tipping fee" within the industry - is charged to municipal and private haulers for each ton of solid waste delivered to the Middlesex County Landfill. The Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Authority's Board of Commissioners have restricted the use of the Middlesex County Landfill to solid waste produced within the County in order to extend the landfill's life span and prevent excess truck traffic through the County's transportation network.
Through the Authority's sound financial planning and project initiatives, the MCUA is able to consistently offer one of the most competitive rates in the state. The current rate for ID10 waste is $65.35 per ton.
For the past nine years, the Authority has maintained a stable "Contract Rate" for participating private haulers and municipalities, committed to a set tonnage amount. This "Contract Rate" for ID10 Waste is $55.35 for 2008 and $56.35 in 2009.
